Another project to re-imagine the possibilities of the existing structures on Cederkloof Botanical Retreat was the renovation of one of the larger cottages.

A major intervention was the complete removal of the south-facing wall of the unit. This opened up interior views onto the north-facing slopes of the Olifantsberg with it’s quirky and beautiful indigenous plants - names such as “koekoemakranka”, “kapokbos” and “harpuisbos”.

Further interior remodeling opted for more built-in furniture to allow guests the opportunity to view nature’s show of bird, animal and plant life directly outside the large shaded windows. The plan ensures all internal activities enjoy and encourage bird and nature watching up close.
