The Rosewood Primary School site was unique becuse of its position on a busy street corner. This presented an opportunity to create a friendly and welcoming entrance plaza and give the school its identity.

The school is designed around a series of courtyards, providing easy seperation between the Grade R’s, Junior and Senior learners to simplify school managment input and reduce bullying. The bright and colourful courtyards were designed to bring fun and play to the internal environments which double up as outdoor play and learning spaces.

The buildings are designed with monopitch roofs creating a high perimeter wall on the exterior to make illegal access difficult. This roof shape brings the scale of the buildings down at the internal courtyard and walkway side to create a child friendly and relatable feel.
